Walters sold at Sotheby(24-27 October 1932, catalogued by A. H. Baldwin),lot 331(first coin in lot); Stamford Find(22 October 1866) was a hoard discovered by Richard Christian as he was digging a drain near the east end of St. George's Church. Groats totaling near 3000 from the the reign of Edward III though to Edward IV were found. While some wer retained by the British Museum the majority were purchased by W. S. Lincoln and Son coin dealers from London. F. A. Walters who at one time owned this coin read a paper about this hoard at the 16 March 1911 meeting of the Royal Numismatic Society . Coin came with a mystery ticket.
